Art of the Umbrella Fundraiser

Umbrella of the Capital District held their second annual "Art of the Umbrella" fundraiser in Schenectady on Friday, Oct 24. Plain white umbrellas were transformed by local artists (including Zone 5's own Katie Diduch), and the resulting artworks were auctioned off to benefit Umbrella. The Schenectady-based organization is a "nonprofit agency helping senior citizens and persons with disabilities keep the two things they cherish most... their homes and their independence." Additional items featured at the auction were umbrella-themed art, and the event kicked off with a dress made from recycled black umbrellas, modeled by Carrie Barown. Zone 5 was a corporate sponsor of the event, which raised more than $10,000 for Umbrella.
