Can't we all just Coexist?
Bicycle safety. It isn't something we just teach our kids. As more and more people take to two wheels – wether for health intentions or to save money or the environment, cyclists are sharing the road more and more with motorized vehicles.
An opportunity came to Zone 5 a few months ago that felt like a perfect fit for our firm – the Capital Coexist Safety Campaign. Zone 5 was selected to concept, create and shoot the photography for this campaign that featured four important messages for cyclists and motorists both – Be Seen, Share The Road, Eyes On The Road, and Ride Right. Based on a successful campaign in Denver, Zone 5 developed the concept and worked with various volunteers to create the four campaigns using the busy streets of downtown Albany.
The reason this project was a perfect fit goes beyond our creative and photographic resources. Many at Zone 5 fancy the bicycle, most notably our COO, Paul Fahey, who is an accomplished triathlete; or Todd Mosher, our President, who regularly bikes on both coasts; and our Web developer, Ethan Giorgi, who treks to and from work every day – rain or shine, every work day of the year, and was recently featured in a Times Union story about national Bike to Work Day. Additionally, during the summer months, many a bicycle can be seen leaning against a wall in our office, as staff will take them out on local trails during their lunch breaks.
After the completion of the Capital Coexist campaign, Zone 5 also secured the design and development of their website, helping to get the message out to more and more capital region residents. The site contains more than educational and safety messages, including information on bicycle trail projects and a calendar of upcoming "bicycle-friendly" events. Visit the Capital Coexist site for more information or become a fan of them through their facebook page.
