June 9, 2008

ALBANY, NY — On Friday, June 6th, at the 35th Annual NORI Awards held at the Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in Troy, Zone 5 took home 4 awards for excellence in advertising and communications. Entering the evening with 21 finalists, Zone 5 grabbed 4 of the coveted creative awards, receiving recognition for their work in higher eduction and health care, as well as for their own self promotion.

In the category of Sales Promotion — Poster, Zone 5 took top honors with their poster for Colombia-Greene Community College promoting an upcoming concert by bluesman Guy Davis. For their 1/2-page or larger newspaper campaign for Finger Lakes Health, Zone 5 was the only finalist and winner for their three-part series promoting the Orthopedic Center at Geneva Hospital in Geneva, New York.

Zone 5 also received honors for their self promotional work involving their move to downtown Albany and for translating an internal event into a holiday message for clients and friends. Zone 5 used direct marketing to alert clients and contacts of their move downtown, and was awarded a NORI for their creative method of presenting this typically mundane announcement. Committed to a positive and inspirational corporate culture, Zone 5 staff took advantage of their new office's full kitchen to create a social event for all employees by hosting "Wednesday Soup Days" every week throughout the fall and winter. Each week a different staff member made a soup meal for the entire staff. Zone 5 was rewarded for capturing this special staff function in an accordion-fold holiday card, presenting recipes of the soups made by Zone 5 employees for their clients and friends to enjoy.

One of the largest, most diverse professional communications organizations in the Capital Region, the Ad Club has hosted the NORI Awards every year since 1972 to honor outstanding achievement in advertising and communications. By applying the highest criteria to judge its members, the creative competition serves to continually raise the standards of work in the region and promote excellence in communications.
