Zone 5 named one of the region's "Great Places to Work"
Albany, NY — Zone 5 was named one of the region's top 30 "Great Places to Work" by The Business Review. The award recognizes companies for their positive work environment through a survey of its employees. More than 130 companies were nominated with almost 10,000 employee survey responses. Out of those companies, 30 businesses and organizations emerged from the process as The Business Review's "Great Places to Work" in the region.
Nominated companies were broken out by tiers — 10 to 50 employees; 51 to 150 employees; 151 to 500 employees; and 500 and over. The top six companies were honored in each tier and one overall winner was awarded per tier at a luncheon held on October 12th at the Crowne Plaza in Albany.

The Business Review worked with Quantum Market Research of Wichita, Kansas, who surveyed employees to find companies that succeed in retaining and recruiting good people while making them feel engaged in their work. The surveys included scores of questions that related to nine themes: team effectiveness, retention risk, alignment with goals, trust with co-workers, individual contribution, manager effectiveness, trust in senior leadership, feeling valued, and work engagement. Companies needed to reach a specific statistically significant percentage of employee participation to qualify for consideration.
"It's flattering", said Zone 5 President Todd Mosher, who said that the company atmosphere, policies and hiring practices are key elements of making Zone 5 a place where people want to work. "The biggest thing is the selection of people. It's not just about hiring people who can do the work. [Zone 5] wants people who can fit the culture. Zone 5 was the only company of its size or larger to have no employee turnover in 2003."
